Echo Peak Deep - March Miracle Rolls On

Charlie reaps the rewards after the long drive from the City - 3/11/06.

March has been a miracle so far.  We've had snow here in Tahoe 10 out of the 11 days in March, and it looks like it's going to keep on rolling.  There haven't been any really monstrous storms, but consistent light and dry dumps have sufficed for delivering some amazing powder skiing.  For the second Saturday in a row we found ourselves breaking trail up another classic South Shore peak on an early Saturday morning.  Fortunately we had a crowd of trail breakers this time to assist with the effort.  With the avy danger deservedly rated as "High" we played it safe and stuck to the ridges and protected slopes.  We did 1 1/2 laps on our hasty schedule and enjoyed deep untracked everywhere.  It was a mellow and fun day.  And although the snow was deep and light, It was so deep, it had to be steep.....in fact I almost think resort skiing would have been a better bang for the buck on this day. - oh my god, did I just really say that?!?

Charlie guaranteed a two lap day by leaving his pack at the top after the first skin up.  That's commitment

Chris also took many very high quality pictures on that day as well.  Here is some of his fine work, with myself featured on the other side of the lense in a few:

And just to prove to my mother that there are pictures of me, here are a few more from Chris on our trip up Trimmer on February 19, 2006 (land of light and dry pow!):

Thanks for the great shots, Chris!

....and another storm is on it's way, again.
