Summer and Fall tend to be seasons of longing. Shrinking snow fields, longer approaches, the turns are harder to come by. But there is therapy. After all, the mountains don't go away they just change. The days become longer, the nights are cool and clear, the magnificent sierra granite and alpine lakes shimmer in the range of light. Whether it is an extended backpacking trip, or a quick and light peakbagging effort, the warm season is a great time to get away and explore the backcountry.
